AN IOWA CLIPPERTON FAMILY REUNION ABOUT 1925 ON A FAMILY FARM NEAR ROCKWELL CITY

Would you believe the writing on the back of this photo simply says "you know all these people", well I don't and Aunt Laura the pretty one in the back row on the right did. Late in her life told me that she indeed did know everyone there very well. However due to cataracts could not pick out a single person. If you have the opportunity to document old photos don't let it pass. From other photos and numerous visits we now can identify over half of them. This picture contains at least six of the original Clipperton family who moved from near London, Ontario to Iowa about 1869. James the oldest son of Wm and Jane is seated near the middle of the center row, he is broad shouldered, his hair is mostly white and has no tie on, his wife Abbie (Andrew) is behind him in all white clothing. To the right of James in a dark suit is the youngest child of that family and was the only child not born in Canada, Henry Calvin. Next right is John Joseph, the smaller slender man. Next right is Robert Francis holding a child, his wife Lettie (Smyth) is the tall lady behind him. They moved to California about 1909 and started the west coast clan. Her sister my grandmother Nellie Jane (Smyth) Clipperton is to the right in a dark sweater. My portion of the family are those right of Robert F and Lettie. My father Clifford F is the 15 year old lad sitting on ground in a tan suit with hat before him, brother Wm. Guy is to the left in a tan suit and Ralph is next left in a dark jacket looking serious as usual.. Three of John J's sons are seated before James and Ben is left of James. Doris is the five year old on the left front row and her brother Dale "Abe" Clipperton is right of her. Naomi Clipperton Stockbridge is in a light dress and dark hat behind john J. Her husband Ed Stockbridge is in cap behind her. Left of her in a dark patterned dress and dark shadowy hat is probably Margaret Clipperton Flack and son Jesse Flack is balding man behind her. His wife Minta (Smyth) is in multi colored hat between Naomi, Lettie and Ed all in hats. From this picture the only living one I know of is Wilma Clipperton Hunter still living on an original Clipperton farm. She is the little one in the back row in mother Lillie's arms, Lillie is turned sideways they are in the left side of this photo. Wilma's father was Benjamin Edward oldest son of John J and Alma
