Amateur radio operators call themselves hams, many spare little in pursuit of their hobby. They exchange post cards upon making contacts with each other. These are called QSL cards, just like business cards each is quite unique. Call letters are assigned to each licensed radio amature according to their location. The prefix for Clipperton Island is FO. A great sense of pride and accomplishment is taken in their radio rigs and rooms. Hams form local clubs and specialized groups. Working contacts over long distances by voice or morse code is called DXing which has brought numerous small groups of hams to Clipperton Island every few years since the mid 1950's. There are a few websites that showcase the efforts these groups. Dentron used to manufacture for DXing a high power final amplifier called the Clipperton L and an antenna tuning unit called the clipperton T also a 2 meter rig the Clipperton V. Later they produced the Clipperton QRO amp near the end of their existence. This gear although getting older is in plentiful use and is usually available on http://www.ebay.com .We started collecting QSL cards and a few are shown below the Dentron ham gear.
